Major Progress against Guinea Worm in Chad

The Carter Center and Chad health ministry’s aggressive, science-based interventions against Guinea worm disease have led to a significant decline in human cases and infections in dogs. See what’s working in one of the last places on Earth where this ancient curse still exists.

The Carter Center is guided by the principles of our Founders, Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter. Founded, in partnership with Emory University, on a fundamental commitment to human rights and the alleviation of human suffering, the Center seeks to prevent and resolve conflicts, enhance freedom and democracy, and improve health.
