The Affordable Care Act (2010) resulted in millions more people trying to access mental health and substance use services as one of the 10 essential health benefits included in all covered plans. The 2015 Rosalynn Carter Symposium on Mental Health Policy discusses several potential solutions to address the gaps in the behavioral health workforce that have resulted from this surge in demand, along with the field's shift toward integrated care and population health.
