Meet Makoy Samuel Yibi: Real Lives Real Change

Makoy Samuel Yibi grew up in Guinea worm-endemic Terekeka County in South Sudan. Today, as the national coordinator for the Guinea Worm Eradication Program in South Sudan, he is changing lives in every corner of his county and his country tracking down cases, treating victims, and educating communities about how to stamp out this agonizing disease. In 2008, he was recognized for his dedicated, relentless, and effective leadership when he received the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Award for Guinea Worm Eradication.

Founded in 1982 by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter in partnership with Emory University, The Carter Center is committed to advancing human rights and alleviating unnecessary human suffering. The Center wages peace, fights disease, and builds hope worldwide.
